Schools
With an enrollment of approximately 10,600 students, the Canton City School District is the largest in Stark County and one of the eight largest urban school systems in Ohio. It is also one of the largest employers in Stark County. The district comprises two high schools (each with a freshman academy), four middle schools, 16 elementary schools, one preschool and an early childhood kindergarten center. In addition, the district operates five alternative high schools, one alternative middle school and helps operate a Montessori school, a Digital Academy, an Arts Academy and an educational facility inside a juvenile attention center. The Canton City Schools offer a wide variety of strong academic, vocational, athletic, fine arts and other extracurricular activities. Since 1999, a state-driven building program, Design for the Future, has propelled the construction of ten new school buildings -- Cedar Elementary, Worley Elementary, Allen Elementary, Gibbs Elementary, Belden Elementary, Summit Elementary, Harter Elementary, McGregor Elementary, Clarendon Elementary and Lehman Middle School. A local bond issue provided about 30 percent of the funding. Under the plan, nineteen schools will be new or renovated by 2007. (See Looking to the Future)

Massillon City School District
The Massillon City School District is located in Stark County, Ohio, and is comprised of six elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.
Approximately 4,300 students attend the Massillon City Schools in grades pre-kindergarten through 12.
Massillon is an urban school system with about half of its families qualifying for free and reduced lunch.

Fairless Local School District
The Fairless Local School District is in the heart of this scenic one hundred square miles in southwestern Stark County. The district draws students from the villages of Beach City, Brewster, Navarre, Wilmot, and the townships of Sugar Creek and Bethlehem. Fairless Local Schools has recently constructed two new buildings, a K-5 Elementary building that houses approximately 820 students and a 6-8 Middle School building that houses 468 students. The high school was built in the late 1960's, houses grades 9-12 and contains about 600 students. Fairless Elementary and Fairless Middle School are state of the art facilities.
